The Original Cottage Inn: Good Eats: Ann Arbor, MI (Free meals for homeless on Thanksgiving)

Our family loves the Original Cottage Inn in downtown Ann Arbor. It opened its doors in 1948 and has been serving campus ever since. When it comes to kids you really can't go wrong with pizza, but the best news about Cottage Inn is that it is the kind of pizza adults love too. Definitely recommended for a family lunch or dinner when you are out on the town this holiday season. If you don't love pizza (then you are crazy...but...) we have also enjoyed their appetizers, salads and pastas. It's easy for people to find something they love here.

We have also held quite a few larger events there and were incredibly impressed with the way we were taken care of and the reasonable price for a private party. They kept the buffet fully stocked with great pizzas, pastas, breads and salads and were super accommodating regarding food allergies and sensitivities. They had a cash bar available for those wanting to buy their own drinks and were so helpful and professional. If you have a large party getting together for anything, it is a fantastic spot to reserve.

Not only do they make great food, but they also cook for a cause and are offering free meals on Thanksgiving Day for the homeless, poor and the needy, just like they have been doing for the past 29 years.

CJ Newman, an Ann Arbor native, shares the following:

For the last 29 years, the Original Cottage Inn Restaurant in downtown Ann Arbor has been offering free meals on Thanksgiving Day for the homeless, the poor and the needy. This year, the tradition continues. Hours for the food giveaway are. The free meals include turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, vegetables and rice pudding for dessert. The restaurant does not need any more volunteers to help out. the Restaurant is located at 512 E. William St. in Ann Arbor, MI.

Three hundred or more people typically show up to take advantage of the free Thanksgiving. The manager says he is hoping to have as many as possible. Anyone is welcome and questions can be answered at 734-663-3379.
